Is dit herkenbaar: A writer is someone for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people. Thomas Mann
Zo ja, laat je dan oppeppen door deze 7 schrijftips of wijsheden van andere schrijvers.
1. Schrijf over wat je weet of boeit
The reason one writes isn’t the fact he wants to say something. He writes because he has something to say. F. Scott Fitzgerald
Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer. Barbara Kingsolver
If there’s a book you really want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it. Toni Morrison
If you are excited by what you are writing, you have a much better chance of putting that excitement over to a reader. Robin McKinley
2. Niet iedereen is je lezer
There are many candles in the candle shop. There is not one of them that smells good to everyone. There is not one of them that smells bad to everyone, either. A story might not be for one editor or reader, but it might be for another. George Singleton
3. Maak je niet druk, go with the flow
Get it down. Take chances. It may be bad, but it’s the only way you can do anything really good. William Faulkner
Write freely and as rapidly as possible and throw the whole thing on paper. Never correct or rewrite until the whole thing is down. Rewrite in process is usually found to be an excuse for not going on. John Steinbeck
4. Alles is al geschreven, dus doe jij het anders
The most original authors are not so because they advance what is new, but because they put what they have to say as if it had never been said before. Goethe
The writer shakes up the familiar scene and, as if by magic, we see new meaning.
Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass. Anton Chekhov
Tell the readers a story! Because without a story, you are merely using words to prove you can string them together in logical sentences.
Anne McCaffrey
Tell me and I’ll forget. Show me and I’ll remember. Involve me and I’ll understand. Confucius
6. Schrijven is herschrijven
Writing and rewriting are a constant search for what it is one is saying. John Updike
I was working on the proof of one of my poems all the morning, and took out a comma. In the afternoon I put it back again. Oscar Wilde
The wastepaper basket is the writer’s best friend. Isaac Bashevis Singer
It’s hard for me to believe that people who read very little – or not at all in some cases – should presume to write and expect people to like what they have written. Can I be blunt on this subject? If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time – or the tools – to write. Stephen King

Nice that you are inspired by other writers. Really enjoyed reading these pearls of wisdom
Glad you enjoyed them. And yes, first came my love for reading and then for writing. I used to be like Cees Nooteboom: I read books like a spy or like a jealous lover. But now (having non-fiction in mind) I’m finally convinced that Ive got something to say and that people appreciate HOW I say it.
